Jason Fuchs #19 Mopar sponsored Dodge FBR Motorsports VHR Sprint cup drivers took to the two mile Michigan International Speedway last Saturday night for 80 laps of action that witnessed Jason Fuchs number 19 Mopar sponsored Dodge edge out Kory Williams for the victory with a head to head battle coming out of turn four with both drivers side by side with Fuchs the winner. Kory Williams 18 M&M Pretzel Toyota stayed in the top five for a majority of the race just waiting to pounce and looked like victory was in hand came in a close second, returning from retirement Joe Haines in the 42 National Guard Chevrolet made it worth the effort and came home in third place, Daytona Champ Halford Moore 9 Budweiser Ford scored another top five and chased leaders through out the race looking for another win was fourth, new kid on the block Jerry Huffman 25 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Chevrolet continues to show muscle as he brings home another top five as well finishing fifth. This weeks hard charger of the race award goes to Mike Norris piloting the 20 Z-Line Toyota after starting tenth Mike showed a lot of patients and came home a respectable sixth place. Sixteen of FBR Motorsports finest took to Michigan with the hopes of a great race and they got it as Jason Fuchs 19 Mopar Dodge took the pole with Butch Davis 43 NASCAR Hall of Fame Ford made up the front row. At the green flag Jason Fuchs with the low line took the lead with Butch Davis and Joe Haines in close pursuit and as an eleven car pack for the front spot developed with Fuchs and Davis pulling away from the pack. The action was heating up as the usual suspects attempted to chase down Jason Fuchs for a chance to gains bonus points for leading a lap which Butch Davis was able to do on lap eight, but it wasn’t long before Matty Watkins 03 Vault Energy Drink Chevrolet showed some muscle and moved into the top spot. Kory Williams also showed his worth early in the race with a few power moves to get the 18 M&M Pretzel Toyota some bonus points as well. The 49 Club Enna Chevrolet of Wren Musick made a statement with a push for the lead as well. Mike Norris 20 Z-Line Toyota wanted a piece of the action as well as he made a bid for the top spot. The first of 3 cautions for the race came out on lap 29 when Musick and Davis got together coming out of turn two; both drivers made repairs and were able to continue. The race off of pit road saw Jason Fuchs first, Mike Norris second and Joe Haines third , when the green flag fell Jason Fuchs continued to lead with a race high of 50 laps lead, Matty Watkins lead eleven laps and Kory Williams lead nine laps. After the second caution it looked like Kory Williams would be the victor as Jason Fuchs and Matty Watkins were caught on pit road when the second caution flew and went a lap down but Jason was able to regain the lap with a third caution and that set up a charge to the front and what a charge it was with one lap to go and Fuchs out front Williams made a gallant move to the inside of Fuchs coming out of turn two and they were side by side down the backstretch and coming out of turn four but Jason had the momentum and captured the victory by a .0002 margin. This series is proving to be an action packed wheel to wheel racing as several of FBR series regular drivers compete each Thursday evening for an Indy car win. Indy series goes to Watkins Glen this Thursday for some road course action the green flag drops at 08:30pm EST and we are still accepting drivers for this series as we tackle a variety of tracks from ovals to road courses and street circuits.
