IndyCars @ Chicagoland!! COT takes a week off, MAYBE??

The FBR Motorsports IndyCar Series heads to Chicagloand Speedway this week for another round of oval racing.. With Surfer's Paradise being removed from the schedule, Chicagoland was chosen as a quick alternative.. All of the oval races have been hotly contested, and Chicagoland should be no different.. The points race is getting closer with each passing week, and all 4 of the championships in this series are still up for grabs..

The FBR Motorsports COT Series is off this week to allow all of our drivers an opportunity to enjoy the Labor Day weekend.. However, rumors are rumbling that FBR Motorsports may hold some sort of non-points event on Saturday night for those interested..

A new skin pack is available for the COT Series.. Download is below..

Fuchs breaks thru at Homestead.. Watkins sweeps Atlanta..
FBR News

FBR IndyCar Series :

Jason Fuchs' #19 Mopar Car

The FBR Motorsports IZOD Indy car series was at Miami Homestead last Thursday for some more high speed oval action in sunny Florida.. The times were quick and the speeds that these cars produce were very fast with some very exciting three and four wide racing.. You know what they say about a small town if ya blink you’ll miss it. There was no blinking at this track as the drivers had to stay on their toes as the action was fast and furious.. When it was all said and done, Jason ‘Mr. Mopar’ Fuchs came home the victor in the #19 Mopar Dallara with Butch Davis in the #43 STP just 0.05 behind.. This just shows how close the racing is in this series, and a very close third place finisher Chad Simpson piloting the #15 Target car garners another top five with his 3rd place performance.. Michael Born in the #14 Old Spice car also racked up another top five with a 4th place finish and Kyle Millikin brought the #42 Patron Tequila home 5th after starting 14th on the grid. The series goes to Chicagoland next week, which should be another show stopper for the drivers.

FBR COT Series :

 Matty Watkins' #03 Vault Chevy

The FBR Motorsports COT Series hit the high banks of Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday night, and right away, everyone knew it was going to be a shootout.. Several drivers clocked in impressive times in both practice and qualifying, with Phenom taking the pole over Butch Davis.. Matty Watkins and Jason Fuchs filled the 2nd row.. Weekly frontrunner Kory Williams qualified a dismal 8th, but, as he's said numerous times in the past, qualifying is not his strngth.. Newcomer Mark Wright would start the race from the rear of the field after taking a provisional starting position.. The race got off to a tremendous start, with the first yellow flying on lap 31 when polesitter Phenom nailed the wall.. Another yellow flag on lap 49 would again slow the field as the #70 car lost control and spun.. Eventually, the race would come down to 5 drivers, as Kory Williams got a great late-race restart and pulled away from the field.. Once the following cars of Matty Watkins, Jason Fuchs, Mark Wright, and Mike Norris sorted themselves out and got in line, they ran down the #18 of Williams.. Coming into turn 3 on the final lap, Watkins gave Williams a tap to the rear bumper, sliding the #18 up the track.. The #03 was able to get to the bottom and drag raced the #18 to the line, beating out Williams by a mere 2 hundredths of a second.. Fuchs held on to 3rd, while Mark Wright and Mike Norris rounded out the top 5.. Mike Morris brought home a respectable 6th place finish, followed by Hal Moore, Chad Simpson, Wren Musick, and Steve Fawley.. The win is Matty Watkins' 4th of the season, and ties him with Butch Davis for 2nd on the season in the wins category.. The COT Series has an off-week for the Labor Day weekend, and returns for the final race before the Chase at Richmond on the weekend of September 11th..
FBR Super Series :
The FBR Motorsports Super series inaugural race for Season Two hit the high banks of Daytona in the Sprint cup cars for 50 laps of pack racing as twenty drivers made the attempt for a shot at the win.. It was Halford Moore’s #9 Budweiser Ford that edged out Butch Davis' #43 Insigna Ford for the win.. Skeeter in the #37 Long John Silvers Dodge was third, Wolf Pack Racings Greg Holt in the #29 Pennzoil Chevrolet was fourth and Turbo in the #27 Toyota rounded out the top 5. Race two will be at Talladega in the Nationwide series cars on Wednesday, September 8th.
Top Team Challenge :
The Top Team Challenge was run at Bristol last Monday night and the FBR team turned up the heat with a sweep of the top four spots as Butch Davis took the poll and the win with Kory Williams second, Matty Watkins third and Halford Moore fourth. Jason Fuchs finished ninth due to a disconnect but the team also remains strong in the points with Davis first, Williams second, Fuchs third and Moore fourth and it’s this reporters guess that FBR will defiantly win this series. With the final race next Monday at Atlanta and the team running hard I’m sure there will be a big celebration next week.

Top Team challenge:

Last Monday’s race was at Michigan, and the FBR Motorsports crew brought home another victory for the team. Butch Davis 43 brought home the victory for the FBR Motorsports team, with the 83 of Kory Williams finishing second and the 19 of Jason Fuchs finishing third. The 9 of Halford Moore was running in the top 5 late in the race when a self-spin relegated him to the back of the lead lap with a seventeenth place finish. The 33 of Matty Watkins had a good, smooth run most of the race and was able to bring home a twelfth place finish.Great job and another great team effort by everyone at FBR Motorsports. Team work is what is keeping us up front in the points. Bristol is next on the schedule and should be another great race for the FBR team.

Other news:

FBR’s own Ron Fox has a weekly show in Pennsylvania called Pit Pass that covers the short track action through out the state and Ron shared an experience with FBR that I’m sure we would all like to have, per Ron Fox: Well.... I finally got to fulfill a dream of mine. Scott Fenton has been after me for months to turn some laps in his team's Street Stock. On Friday night, I just happened to swing by their pit area and he said tonight it was going to happen. In the heat...or feature... something broke on the Street Stock. A part of me was apprehensive anyways. Another part REALLY wanted to try out a real race car. Figured it wasn't going to happen...at least not that night. However, Scott had another plan. I'd take out the team's Late Model. I didn't set the world on fire. That wasn't the goal although I REALLY wanted to open it up once I got comfortable. But, I respect their equipment and the opportunity they presented to me. I was probably 2 1/4 seconds off the fastest the car ran in the feature...which they won, quite a thrill. Click here to see the video.

And that wraps it up for this week sim racing fans, until next week this is your FBR Motorsports reporter Mark Page reminding you to Drive Fast and keep it off the wall.

Williams takes Michigan while Davis wins at Cleveland and Dega.
FBR News

FBR Motorsports VHR Sprint cup series visited Michigan last Saturday for the second time in the 2010 schedule and it appeared that Kory Williams piloting the 18 Z-Line Toyota learned something from Jason Fuchs the winner of the first race here as Kory took the win in typical style and made it look easy, coming off a win the previous week at Watkins Glen made it two in a row for the upstate New York driver. Always in the hunt for a win Butch Davis in the 43 Insignia Ford charged hard looking to sweep the week here at FBR placed a close second. Wren Musick brought the 49 Jenna Jamison Chevrolet home to a respectable third place finish and showed some muscle and a cool head as he fought hard in an attempt for a victory. Gentlemen Joe Viens in the 44 Valvoline Ford skillfully worked his way through the field from last place to a fourth place finish, and Mike Morris in the 05 Marlboro Chevrolet scored another top five and shows once again his consistency. Our hard charger of the race goes to Gentlemen Joe Viens 44 Valvoline Ford after starting 21st on the grid finished in fourth place. We have a lot to report this week here at FBR but first FBR Reporter Mark Page conducted post race interviews after Michigan’s race and he chatted with the top four and seventh place finisher, Kory Williams, Butch Davis, Wren Musick, Joe Viens and Matt ‘The Brat’ Watkins. Click here to listen to the interview.

FBR Motorspots IZOD Indy car series was at the Cleveland Airport course last Thursday for some tarmac racing that proved to be very challenging for some drivers while others made it look easy as Butch Davis in the 43 STP car took the victory with 10.99 margin over Chad Simpson a strong second in the 15 Target car, Kory Williams 18 M&M third but couldn’t quite master the twists and turns of the high speed course, Jamie Fuchs in the Captain Morgan car held on for a fourth place finish as Justin Fuchs brought the Mopar Dallara home in fifth place. Williams survives last-lap mayhem.. Takes the checkers at Iowa!!
FBR News

The #18 M&Ms of Kory Williams

Kory Williams brought the #18 M&Ms car to victory lane while the rest of the field was busy trying to collect various car parts off of the track following a wild finish at Iowa on Thursday night.. The #1 Gould Charge of Rick Ravon had the lead late in the race, but Williams was able to get under Ravon, and opened the door for several other drivers to move underneath.. As the field came to the white flag, contact was made between Ravon's car and that of Jason Fuchs' #19 Mopar car.. The triggered a massive multi-car incident that involved all but 3 drivers.. Marco Brughelli's #11 7-Eleven car and Mike Born's #14 Old Spice car were able to make it through unscathed, but that wouldn't last long as those two made contact in turn 3 putting both into the wall.. Even with the damage from the first incident, Hal Moore was able to pilot his #9 Budweiser car home in 2nd, followed by Mike Morris' #05 Marlboro Menthol car and Jason Fuchs..

The race started out very well for all drivers, as a long green flag run produced a lot of side-by-side and three-wide action.. Damian Katz, the youngest driver in FBR's history, led a total of 18 laps in his #47 West car before fuel issues forced his retirement on lap 61.. Butch Davis, one of the early season points leaders, led laps again and had a shot at victory until the final lap incident ruined those chances.. Mark Page's night ended early when the engine in his #33 Skoal Bandit expired with 17 laps remaining.. Jaime Huppert again showed he could hang with the big boys in his #96 MOMO car, but like many others, fell victim to the last lap incidents..

Damian Katz leads the field at Iowa

Brughelli breaks through, FINALLY!!
FBR News

5-wide racing

The FBR IndyCar Series hit the 1.5 mile cookie cutter of Kansas on Thursday night with tensions running high.. With several drivers continuing to show improvement in these cars, the race was up for grabs.. Polesitter Marco Brughelli led the field to the green, with Chad Simpson on outside pole.. Butch Davis started third, followed by Jason Fuchs, Hal Moore, Mike Morris, Kory Williams, Kyle Millikin, Mike Norris, Jaime Huppert, and Patrick Norris.. The drivers learned very quickly that the race would be a huge chess match, as a total of 75 lead changes took place during the event.. Patrick Norris' day ended on lap 21 when contact with the wall tore the right front suspension from the #17 Ethanol car.. Kyle Millikin's race started out very promising, as he was able to fight his way to the lead for a total of 6 laps, but a blown motor on lap 37 put the #42 Patron Tequila car out of the race.. Mike Norris' day would end only 19 laps from the finish as a mechanical failure sidelined the #20 Invicta Watches car, leaving Norris to finish 9th.. Overall, the race was slowed by 3 yellows for a total of 9 laps, but the race pace still averaged well over 190mph for the entire event.. A final lap incident between Jason Fuchs and Mike Morris relegated the two drivers to 7th and 8th place finishes respectively, which is a far cry from where they could have finished during a mad dash on the last lap as both were positioned with a chance to win coming out of turn 2.. The incident between the #19 Mopar car of Fuchs and #05 Marlboro car of Morris opened the door for the #11 Army car of Marco Brughelli to get a tow from both the #18 M&Ms car of Kory Williams and the #43 STP car of Butch Davis as they exited turn 4.. As the drivers exited turn 4, Davis was underneath Williams, and Brughelli was able to pull under both drivers coming to the line.. Brughelli dove to the apron of the track and all three drivers crossed the line side by side.. In the end, Brughelli earned his first victory of the season, beating Davis to the line by 18 thousandths of a second, with Williams only 4 thousandths behind Davis.. Hal Moore continued his consistent ways finishing a strong 4th in the #9 Budweiser car, followed by Chad Simpson in his #15 Target ride.. Jaime Huppert had a great showing, bringing his #96 MOMO car home a respectable 6th..

Next up for the IndyCar series is the fast short track in Iowa, where 17 second laps are the norm.. It's sure to be quite a different race than Kansas as handling and tire management will play a much larger role at Iowa.. Regardless, it should be one hell of an event..

3-wide photo finish
